I Put This Storage Gem in My Guest Bedroom, and It Created an Instant Closet

My 8×8-foot guest bedroom is too small to comfortably accommodate a bed and a closet. It serves its function by giving visitors a place to sleep, but without any storage space, it definitely lacked practicality. I wanted somewhere for friends and family to at least hang their clothes when they stopped by so they didn’t have to completely live out of a suitcase on the floor.

After countless hours searching for slimline, innovative solutions, I stumbled upon an ingenious storage gem: a wall-mounted foldable drying rack. 

I bought this wall-mounted drying rack from Amazon, and at just $26.99 for a two-pack, it’s an absolute steal for the function it provides. I opted for black because I like the look, but you can also get it in silver or white if that better matches your space. When opened, it can give you 10 inches of space to hang clothes on, but when closed, it’s compact and out of the way.

Installing the rack onto the guest room walls was a breeze, taking only a few minutes with basic tools. First, I used a drill driver to make holes in the walls where I inserted raw plugs, then I held up the rack and secured it in place using a screwdriver and the provided screws. But the real magic is in the design. What makes this find so perfect for small bedrooms is how the rack completely disappears when you don’t need it. When not in use, the metal arm folds flat against the wall as if it isn’t even there, taking up virtually no space at all. 

When guests arrive, I simply fold the arms out. It instantly creates a sturdy, temporary rack where I can add a few hangers for them to store their clothes.
